Ocean Energy at the Edge

A new book has just been published, authored by members of the International network for Social Studies of Marine Energy (ISSMER). The book is titled ‘Ocean Energy: Governance Challenges for Wave and Tidal Stream Technologies‘ and provides a series of in-depth chapters on the legal, economic, and social concerns around wave and tidal energy technologies.

Along with my colleague, Brit Ross Winthereik at IT University of Copenhagen, we’ve written a chapter on ‘Ocean Energy at the Edge’ which compares the Danish wave energy industry with the tide and wave energy industry in Orkney, Scotland. We explore the important trope of the ‘edge’ in marine energy, and how that might be strategically mobilised within the industry.
