I was invited to define a key term for climate change and chose ‘Solarpunk‘–and then wrote my entry as a science fiction short story. For me, it is a term that should not be defined but done. “Solarpunk is known for its age-of-sail aesthetic, for its science-fiction-as-activism, for its sunlit exuberance, and for kicking over the anthills. Solarpunk is not for defining,” as I put it.
Environmental Humanities Glossary is an online open access resource that “engages with the potentials and challenges of addressing climate change by experimenting with different modes of speaking in environmental humanities tongues. ”
The glossary is published by ‘Art & Earth’ research cluster at University of Copenhagen, and is curated by Ulrik Ekman and Daniel Irrgang.
