SeedBox University

What could the seeds for a future university look like? Seeds for a SeedBox University was a performance and downloadable book for anyone to print and plant the seeds to an alternate form of university.

The book offers poetic seeds that can be printed, cut, rolled, and perhaps planted. The planted words can then be nurtured and grown into a different kind of academia or a different kind of research project.

This was one outcome from my writers residency at the SeedBox Environmental Humanities Collaboratory for one month during Autumn 2016.

Note that this booklet has been designed to print double-sided.

SeedBox University Performance

In a performance of the SeedBox University I created a ‘seed tray’ of each line of the poem–or ‘seed’–from the book. I read a selection of ‘seeds’ aloud and planted each one in soil in a jar. The jar was sealed and given to the Seedbox researchers. Perhaps one day it will sprout into a seedline and then grow into a new university.
