The Electric Nemesis at 4S/EASST 2016

31 August 2016 - 3 September 2016

I will be participating in several events at the 4S/EASST conference in Barcelona, including an improvised performance by The Electric Nemesis.

Meet ‘Wanna Wonder the Academic’ and ‘The Electric Nemesis’

One has a red nose, a Science Studies book in hand, and a box with who knows what inside. The other was sewn together, hides her scars in black, and has a electric transformer in her foot. They have met once before, these strange figures, sprung from the Science Studies world. They are meeting again at 4S, improvised, unplanned–something will happen. They just need a little help, a little goodwill, and an open heart. Meet them with a smile at the Friday coffee break, 17.30, before the plenary.

Event diary: Friday 2 September, 17.30, Coffee break area.

Islands on the Cutting Edge

I’ll be storytelling as part of a collaborative and performative session with Phoebe Sengers, Max Liboiron, and Kaiton Williams, Islands on the Cutting Edge: Test sites for reimagining future technoscience (Session T155). Lucy Suchman will also be sailing with us as discussant.

Read our preview post, Here, there be future dragons, on the 4S Backchannels blog.

Event diary: Saturday 3 September, 11.00, Location 114.

STS Problems

I’m also performing a poem as part of the STS Problems discussion roundtable, organised by Endre Dányi and Noortje Marres. The Interactive Round Table: Does STS Have Problems? (Session T174) is on Friday lunchtime.

Event diary: Friday 2 September, 12.30, Location ViP.
