Orkney International Science Festival (Kirkwall and Eday)

6 September 2018 - 8 September 2018

So, this year, I’ll be taking two turns at the Orkney International Science Festival.

Ebban An’ Flowan

6 September

9.30 – 10.30

Town Hall, Kirkwall

On Thursday, I’m in conversation with fellow Edinburgh poet, Alec Finlay, and Orkney environmental consultant, Gareth Davies. The three of us will reflect together on the development and insights in the collection, Ebban An’ Flowan, the world’s first poetic primer to marine renewable energy. Tickets available at the OISF website.

Eday Newton Machine Evening

8 September

Eday

Then on Saturday evening, I’m in conversation with Eday Renewable Energy partner, Clive Brookes. We’ll be talking about the Eday Newton Machine, an energy storage device built by everyone (it felt!) on Eday from scrap found on the island, its construction led by the Reconstrained Design Group, which I was part of last November… More on that soon!
