Distributed Centered Subjects/Objects

How can we rethink heroic accounts of the scientist, entrepreneur, politician as a creative genius without doing away with the person?

(Non)histories

What are the absent presences of origin stories, and what futures do they make (un)imaginable?

Place & Landscape

How does location make a difference to the way that 'newness' is made?

Centres/Peripheries

What are the histories, presents and future possibilities for shifting relations of centre and periphery in political geographies of innovation?

Newness

How might we investigate the discourses and material practices that make the 'new' (e.g. devices, industries, political arrangements), and its status as a general 'good'?

Comment on the postcards

The set of postcards we developed to talk about, and between, our 3 case studies have been uploaded as a pdf [download postcards]. We’re interested in conversations between our project and others - which we hope the postcards help to inspire. How do particular postcards converse with your own work and research interests? What gaps and connections do they make?

The 35 postcards were grouped into themes, which cross-connected between our case studies: Place & Landscape, Distributed Centered Subjects/Objects, Newness, (Non)histories, Centres/Peripheries. Feel free to use these tags (or create others).

Continue the conversation

Welcome to the ‘Relocating Innovation’ blog. With so many ideas and thoughts spilling out of the workshop at MIT we thought we would open up a space to continue the conversation - with both those who were there, and the many who were not.
